SG Batik Design Contest 2025

Raffles Designers Defining Intangible Cultural Heritage By Design
Fresh perspectives on tradition and design took the spotlight at the Batik Design SG Contest 2025, where three Raffles Designers are among the five national winners handpicked by the judges from 140 submissions. The competition invited design students, professionals, and residents, local or overseas, to create original, thoughtful, and visually compelling batik-inspired designs from everyday life in Singapore.
The judges are:
- Dr Jack SIM, founder of World Toilet Organisation & BOPHub
- Anne AVANTIE, Indonesian fashion designer and contemporary kebaya pioneer
- Ms Selmin OZBUDAK, Founder and Art Director, Narart Gallery, Istanbul
- Mr Daniel BOEY, Fashion Show Producer, Daniel Boey Pte Ltd
- Ms ZHANG Ting Ting, CEO, Singapore Fashion Council
The College is proud to be the Design Education Partner of this initiative and continue to nurture designers who approach tradition not as limitation, but as challenge for reinvention. Congratulations to Raffles Designers Wint THAWDAR, LI Jia Yan, and ZHU Ying Wen, whose entries were distinguished by their conceptual clarity, refined execution, and a strong sense of visual storytelling.
Selected submissions, including the above winning designs, were exhibited at ION Art Gallery from 20 to 28 September 2025.
